BASSANT, THE GYPSIES OF RAJASTHAN

Take you to the heart of the traditions of their region of origin for an authentic show. The Bassant group was born from the beautiful encounter between artists of different religions and social classes.

Bassant is a group made up of 5 musicians accompanied by a Kalbelia Dancer (Sapera) and an Indian fakir. All from Rajasthan.

The group has participated in festivals nationally and internationally. Such as International World Music Festivals in France, Switzerland, Hungary, Spain, Italy, Belgium etc…

The dance “Kalbeliya (Sapera)”

Known as “snake dance”, it was born in the Gypsy caste of the Sapera, the nomadic snake charmers. The dance is inspired by the movements of reptiles in captivatingly colored costumes.

The “Bhawai” dance

Presented on the occasion of various celebrations such as village festivals. The dancer carries pots on her head and walks on spikes. A purely traditional show worthy of a great circus

The “Teraa Taali” dance

The dancer symbolically takes up the daily tasks accomplished by women by formulating a devotional rite. This dance allows you to witness a magical ceremonial performance.
